Reacting to an accident or incident
If an accident or incident (including a near miss) occurs at UTS:

Ensure that the person involved receives first aid and/or medical treatment.

It must be reported, by using the HIRO (Hazard and Incident Reporting Online) system.
UTS staff members who seek medical treatment and/or who require time off work due to a work-related injury or illness may be entitled to lodge a claim for workers compensation.
Human Resources offers injury management and return to work
assistance to staff for injuries sustained both at work and outside work.
Students and visitors to UTS are not entitled to lodge a claim for workers compensation, but if costs are incurred due to an injury, illness or property damage, may be able to claim against a UTS public liability insurances.
Maintenance and cleaning requests
Please directly inform Facilities Management Operations of any cleaning requests
or maintenance requests
, rather than notifying via the HIRO system.
