Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor's EHS Advisory Committee
Overview
The purpose of the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor's Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisory Committee is to ensure a coordinated and strategic approach to EHS management. This Committee has representatives from high-risk faculties and units, administrative units with responsibility for implementation of EHS programs, industrial unions, student representative groups and management.
The Committee meets every three months and deals with strategic and policy issues, as well as University-wide hazards and issues. The Committee makes recommendations to management and reports to the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor every six months on overall progress against the UTS EHS Plan.
Terms of Reference
The terms of reference of the Environment, Health and Safety Advisory Committee are as follows:
- establish a coordinated and strategic approach to EHS management at UTS;
- facilitate, monitor and report on the implementation of the UTS EHS Plan;
- establish mechanisms to consult with staff and students on EHS issues;
- identify strategies to encourage the establishment of Faculty and Unit-based EHS Plans;
- coordinate the development of strategies for the management of hazards that potentially present a high risk to health, safety or the environment;
- support the promotion of EHS at UTS;
- recommend to the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor any UTS-wide action to ensure UTS has in place appropriate policies and systems for EHS;
- provide a mechanism for consultation;
- develop strategies to ensure compliance with UTS policies and applicable legislation.
The Committee reports to the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor every six months on overall progress against the UTS EHS Plan.
Committee meetings will be held in Conference Room 4b of the Chancellory (Building One, Broadway Campus).
